我是‘大伯’!

他是我四个月大的侄儿JARIATH。从他出世以来,我妈就照顾他。
每当我回家吃饭,我妈就会对着JARIATH指着我, 以福建话说:"大伯! 大伯!" (音注:TUA BEI)
说真的, '大伯'这个称呼我实在是听不习惯. 因为太过老气, 听起来怪怪的.
我对自己说将来他长大以后, 我就会常常听到他叫我'大伯'. 到时候,我就'听'怪不怪了!

woah, your nephew 4 months old already! babies grow so fast. 'tua bei' is indeed lao qi. but i like the fact that it is very specific. unlike the western culture, 'uncles' and 'aunts' are so generic. :)

haydn grow very fast too, 8 months old now! i like his rosy cheeks n nose. 'tua bei' is something like 'lao uncle', guess it is really hard to get used to. ;-P
